The Big Finish

A dark knight so black, I couldn’t see! To say this is the most disturbing cinematic take of the caped crusader would be an understatement but the change of pace is refreshing and a more realistic account of the character. Matt Reeves successfully mixes Batman with a noir murder mystery. It may not be for a casual audience as there are few action sequences then most super hero flicks. When there is movement it is extremely impactful at moments I could not take my eyes off the screen. The casting was perfect! Pattinson is a badass Batman, Wright is a stern Gordon, Kravitz is a seductive Catwoman and Farrell is unrecognizable as Penguin. The only real gripe that I have with the film is that it is very long and drags for me in the second act. Also we don’t really get a glimpse into Bruce Wayne as this movie is primarily Batman throughout. With talks of two sequels and a tv show spin off already in the works I am definitely ready to immerse myself more in this universe. One thing is certain, even in Gotham the craziest cult followings form on the internet.
