The Big Finish

African American westerns have always been a very under represented genre when it comes to movie industry. There is a huge percentage of people that didn’t even know that there were even black cowboys. Our stories need to be told and efforts like this definitely do the era justice. Even though this is a fictional picture, characters such as Treacherous Trudy and Stagecoach Mary are based on actual strong black women. I encourage everyone to go look up the history behind those legendary ladies. Director Jeymes Samauel also known as the Bullitts provides an innovative, stylistic take that I think will resonate with casual audiences. Its kind of like a mix of a comic book and Blaxploitation. All of the clothing, accents and set structure are on point. Cinematically pleasing in nature is the camerawork as there are an abundance of fun and fresh shots. Also the charismatic acting from the cast with Idris Elba and Regina King in particular take this movie up another notch. There are also some dope rap verses by Lauren Hill and Jay-Z who produced the movie and launched an Instagram account for the promotion. The wild wild west was definitely fun and especially for US there should definitely be more visits.
